Do you take my insurance?
I see patients with all types of insurance plans. I operate out-of-network as a cash-pay clinic. That means that you pay upfront for your services (you can pay with an HSA or FSA card), and I provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance as an out-of-network claim.*
*This does NOT apply for Medicare-policy holders, whether it is your primary or secondary insurance. Medicare does not allow cash-pay for covered physical therapy services. However, we would be pleased to work with you under a Wellness Program. For Medicare, wellness programs are not considered skilled PT, meaning you do not have a diagnosed medical problem that would require physical therapy. Wellness therefore includes preventative care, or general fitness programs and goals that are not part of a functional deficit, such as general flexibility and strength or endurance.*
Do I need a physician referral or order?
No. Washington is a direct-access state, meaning that PT's do not need a physician's order to treat a patient. Orders are only required by some insurance companies to approve coverage. Working out-of-network as I do means no order is necessary!
Why should I go out-of-network when I have insurance?
Have you ever received a surprise bill and didn't realize you had to pay out-of-pocket because of a deductible or co-insurance? At my clinic, we decide your price together, so you will never get a surprise bill from me! By spending 60 minutes of one-on-one time with the Physical Therapist, no aides or PTAs, no hand-offs, you will likely have fewer visits overall. Add up the cost of your co-pays, coinsurance or paying your deductible for two visits per week for 4-6 weeks at an in-network clinic, and with the potential for reimbursement for seeing me out-of-network, and you may end up paying less out of pocket overall!
There is also greater freedom when working out-of-network. No need for a new or updated order if we want to begin working on a new area of your body. WA State allows for direct access to physical therapy, so you can come see me without waiting to see your primary care physician first! I am skilled in providing a thorough evaluation, and will refer you out to a physician if there is a medical concern.
How do I get reimbursed by my insurance?
I provide a "superbill" that has all the information you need to send in to your insurance claims office. Check with your plan for specifics about your out-of-network benefits.
I have had chronic pain for 35 years, and have seen multiple PTs and doctors without success. Can you still help me?
Yes! The Pain Neuroscience Education program offers a powerful tool to help you regain function and enjoyment from your life. We spend extensive time in education, dialogue, and discovering the specifics about you and your life that may be contributing to your situation. I take the whole person into account and come up with a plan together, with you, to Flourish in your life once again.
